Unhealthy 'health' foods

Published: 11th May 2016

Shopping for healthy foods can be a minefield. When we are in a rush we often don't have time to check the nutritional information and rely on the packaging to determine whether a product is healthy or not.

Diabetes.co.uk have put together this blog which shows which foods are marketed as healthy, but can actually be high in sugar or fat.

How to avoid these foods - cook from scratch so you know exactly what has gone into your food, but if you are on the go make sure you read the packaging carefully!

Sugar Shocker!

Published: 18th February 2016

You may have read in the news this week about the amount of sugar in hot drinks from high street outlets.

We were really surprised (along with everyone else) that one hot fruit drink could contain up to 99g of sugar!! That's over three times the recommended maximum intake of added sugar!

For products with barcodes remember you can use your Change4Life Sugar Smart app to discover the sugar content. If you are buying a hot drink and would like to know just ask the person behind the counter, they should have this information.
