Homemade Hamburger

This juicy and delicious homemade burger is easy to make, perfect for an evening meal and so much more healthy than anything from a packet.

Equipment: 
  • Sharp knife
  • Chopping board
  • Mixing bowl
  • Weighing scales
  • Grater
  • Tablespoon
  • Grill pan
  • Measuring spoons
Ingredients: 
  • 200g lean minced beef
  • 1 onion
  • 4 mushrooms finely chopped
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1 teaspoon mixed herbs
  • ½ tablespoon tomato puree
  • 4 granary baps
  • Lettuce leaves
  • 3 tomatoes (sliced)
Simple steps: 
  1. Peel and grate the onion, mix with the mince, mushrooms, beaten egg, herbs and tomato puree.
  2. Bring all the ingredients together. Divide into 4, and then gently mould each burger into smallish slightly flattened ball and place on a grill pan.
  3. Pre-heat the grill to a high heat and then reduce to medium heat.  Cook burgers for about 8 minutes each side, until the burgers are cooked though but still juicy.
  4. Toast granary baps placing cut side down on grill.
  5. Place burger in bap and top with lettuce and tomato.
  6. Enjoy!
